Proper Plant Placement In The Office

When it comes to adding plants into the workplace the office layout must be taken into consideration. This can be done by taking a simple visual tour of the office or by referring to blueprints or by creating your own office diagram. There are several things that will need to note about the layout of your office in order to properly match up plants with the perfect locations wherein they can successfully clean your offices air.

Common sense dictates that you should first take note of where all windows and sources of natural light originate from. According to the variety of plants that you introduce into your office, you will discover that many plants need to be placed in locations that have natural light in order to thrive. Therefore, having full knowledge of these “natural light” areas is vitally important.

Secondly, you will need to take note of where all heating and air-conditioning vents are located. When matching up plants with suitable locations in your office you will want to be sure not to place a plant by any of these vents. An overexposure to excessive heat or cold air can actually kill a plant or render it useless in cleaning the air of pollutants.

In the same regard you will want to take notice of where all electrical appliances are located in your office. It is best not to match up plants with locations in your office that are close to machines that may generate a lot of heat. For example, placing a plant next to a copying machine is not the wisest decision. These machines produce heat and can cause a plant to wilt and become dehydrated.

Thirdly, you will need to take note of those areas that are subjected to continuous environmental. This includes areas where a door may be opened and closed resulting in harsh or rapid changes in temperature. Putting a plant near the door of the office can result in poor health for the plant, especially if the seasons drastically change in your country of origin.

Once you have made note of all of these office layout quirks you will be able to easily play plant matchmaker and be able to position plants in areas where they will thrive and be successful at eliminating toxins from your work environment.
